USA: Massachusetts Delegation to Study Offshore Wind in Europe

A delegation of officials and business leaders from the state of Massachusetts is going on a trip to Europe from 20 to 28 April in order to broaden their knowledge on offshore wind industry, the South Coast Today news site informs.

The trip is organized by the New Bedford Economic Development Council and is aimed at learning more about the industry’s supply chain and port-related matters, since the city of New Bedford is planned to become one of the leading U.S. offshore wind ports with its Marine Commerce Terminal.

First of all, the delegation will learn from successes and slips that the Europeans had with workforce retraining and infrastructure development, Matthew Morrissey, Executive Director at the New Bedford Economic Development Council, is quoted by the news site as saying.

He highlighted: “Perhaps most importantly, we begin the process of marketing New Bedford on the global map to key industry players.”
