FoundOcean expands its operations and engineering teams (UK)

FoundOcean expands and reorganises its operations and engineering departments to oversee the increase in projects mobilising in the coming two years.

FoundOcean, the subsea and offshore grouting specialist for the global energy construction industries, is expanding its engineering, operations and offshore grouting teams as a result of the company’s rapid growth and significant project wins. The company headquarters will also be moving to new premises as of 11th October to accommodate these changes.

As a result of an increase in the number of projects in Europe, South East Asia and Australia due to mobilise over the next two years, the operations function has been split into two key areas: project focused and client focused operations.

John Hudson will take up the new role of Client Services Director with responsibility for high-level business development, technical supervision of project management and quality assurance. Jim Bell, Managing Director comments, “John has been with FoundOcean in its current and former guises (Wimpey Laboratories and SeaMark Systems) for over 30 years. He boasts an invaluable understanding of our clients’ needs and fully understands the technical and QA aspects of offshore projects. He is an essential mentor to the project engineering team.”

Paul Burns, a new recruit, will become Operations Director with particular focus on plant investment strategy, personnel organisation, training, safety and integration with overseas partners. Bell says, “Paul knows FoundOcean well having worked for Wimpey Laboratories and SeaMark Systems. He has extensive experience of managing operations and implementing HSE systems in both onshore and offshore grouting.” Paul holds a Masters in Construction Management from Liverpool University and is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.

John Paul O’Sullivan joined FoundOcean in 2008 as a Supervisor and has led many offshore grouting projects. He was recently promoted to Project Engineer and has moved to the Marlow headquarters.

Erlen Christiansen joined FoundOcean this month having recently graduated with an MSc in Sustainable Energy Systems and a Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental). Erlen will join the now five-strong Project Engineer team alongside Richard Latham, Colin Barrett, Stephen Rourke and John Paul O’Sullivan.

Jim Andrews has moved from contract to permanent staff and will be a valuable asset to the offshore grouting team based in Livingston. Jim has been a regular contractor to FoundOcean since 1998.

“FoundOcean is experiencing a considerable upsurge in the number of projects for both the offshore renewables and oil and gas industries. We’re expanding these teams to manage the demand and ensure our clients receive excellent onshore and offshore service,” said John Hudson, Client Services Director.
