trûon Rechtsanwälte has advised Vattenfall in the acquisition of project rights for the offshore wind farm Sandbank 24 from Sandbank Power GmbH & Co. KG.

The planned offshore-wind farm Sandbank 24 is located in the German Exclusive Economic Area in the North Sea approximately 90 km west of Sylt. In its initial phase, the project comprises 96 locations for wind turbine generators already permitted. The project is expected to have a capacity of up to 576 MW. In an extension phase, further 40 wind turbine generators are planned (Sandbank Extension), which are currently in an advanced stage of the permitting process.

„With the successful acquisition of Sandbank 24 Vattenfall is strengthening its position in the German offshore wind market and extending its renewable energy production capacities“ , says Claus Wattendrup, Commercial Project Director at Vattenfall and leading the transaction on the buy side. Vattenfall is the second largest offshore wind operator worldwide.

The legal team was lead by inhouse-lawyer Michael Buggenhagen. The team of trûon consisted of Dirk Büllesfeld, Sonja Tegtmeyer and Nina Koch.
