Aibel Appoints Director of its New Business Area (Norway)

Tore Engevik has been appointed director of Aibel’s new business area, Wind.

Engevik was previously CEO of Vestavind Offshore AS.

“Engevik has long and relevant experience. He therefore has the best point of departure for heading the company’s new business area,” says President and CEO Jan Skogseth in Aibel.

Solid qualifications

Engevik has a degree from Bergen College of Engineering. In addition, he studied project management and business at Agder College.

He spent 18 years with the Aker Group before joining Vestavind Offshore in 2010. During this period, he headed many different offshore projects in addition to serving as the head of Aker Elektro AS for seven years.

Breakthrough for Aibel

Aibel AS has developed a platform concept for wind farms, and won its first wind contract in August 2011. Under the contract Aibel will build the conversion platform Dolwin 2 for a wind farm area in the German sector of the North Sea. Both the German and British sectors have extensive plans for developing offshore wind farms.

Aibel is one of the largest oil service companies in Norway and is established within renewable energy. The company has 5,000 employees and operations in five countries, including two world-class fabrication yards. Aibel is an engineering company that plans, builds, upgrades and maintains platforms, vessels and production facilities in the oil and gas industry.
