The Netherlands: Seaports of Niedersachsen Present Logistics Solutions for Offshore Wind Energy Industry

EWEA offshore 2011 ended on Thursday. During the three days Seaports of Niedersachsen has presented the excellent conditions in the Lower Saxon seaports for production, assembly and handling of offshore wind energy facilities. Many industry representatives showed great interest in port services and capacities. Logistics is the main topic in the offshore wind planning.

More than 7,000 visitors attended the trade fair from 29 November to 1 December in Amsterdam organized by EWEA. EWEA offshore 2011 is one of the most important events in the industry. Several officials from the seaports of Lower Saxony approached Seaports of Niedersachsen booth to exchange information, and pass it on to their extensive logistics and support services for the wind energy industry.

Seaports of Niedersachsen are the leading base ports in Germany for the establishment and supply of offshore wind farms in the North Sea with their existing infrastructure. Many visitors reflected on the excellent reputation the Lower Saxon seaports have acquired for their logistic and service capabilities in the offshore industry.

Andrew Bullwinkel, Director of the Seaports of Niedersachsen GmbH said that they will continue to market their skills further offshore. He is also confident that the services in several areas of their ports will soon be used by the industry as production facilities.
