Natural Power Wins Technical Consulting Contract on Humber Gateway Offshore Wind Farm (UK)

Leading international renewable energy consultancy group Natural Power has been awarded a contract to carry out an energy yield assessment and site classification study for the permitted 230MW Humber Gateway offshore wind farm project in the UK by international energy utility E.ON.

The Round 2 wind farm, located 8km off the Holderness coast, East Riding of Yorkshire, is set to comprise 73 turbines. As part of the assessment, data from an on-site 90m tall mast will be used in combination with data from a meso-scale wind climate model and reference data to deliver a finance grade energy yield and uncertainty prediction.

Neil Douglas, Director of Natural Power’s global technical group commented: “We are pleased to have been awarded this work by E.ON, who is a long-standing and valued client. This work adds to Natural Power’s substantial track record in providing finance-grade wind resource assessments to offshore wind projects, which dates back over 10 years to the start of the offshore wind industry. We are presently engaged on numerous large contracts for technical resource assessments for offshore wind farms including projects in the UK, US, Ireland, Scandinavia and France.”

Natural Power’s global technical team delivers a wide range of technical consulting services to clients on renewable energy projects including onshore and offshore wind farms and wave and tidal energy projects. These technical services are delivered in conjunction with the Natural Power group’s wider service offering, which includes ZephIR wind lidar, planning and development, construction management, ecology and hydrology, operational asset management and marine management services.
