UK: Natural Power, SeaRoc Open New Office in Orkney

Leading international renewable energy consultancy Natural Power and marine engineering specialists SeaRoc are opening a new office in Orkney, establishing a new joint presence for the companies to support the development of marine projects and encourage the growth of the wave and tidal energy industry.

The Orkney office will provide a base for Natural Power and SeaRoc staff working on wave and tidal projects in the Orkney and Pentland Firth area, with expert advice being given in consent, resource assessment, ecological advice and surveying.

Previous work in the Orkney and Pentland Firth area includes Natural Power’s resource assessment study of tidal energy potential for RWE npower Renewables and a resource assessment study of wave energy potential for SSE.

Ted Leeming, MD at Natural Power commented: “Orkney is a centre of growing interest in the wave and tidal industry, and is therefore the perfect place for Natural Power and SeaRoc to offer support to clients with a wide range of marine-focussed services – either individually or in partnership.”

Eric Briar, MD at SeaRoc commented: “This new office will allow us to continue working effectively for our clients and manage all consultancy and engineering aspects of marine energy projects. We hope that the establishment of the new office will attract experts in the field to join us in meeting the increasing demand for wave and tidal services in the UK.”

Natural Power is a globally based company and with offices in the UK, France, US and Chile. Orkney will represent the company’s eighth office in the UK and thirteenth office internationally.
