Four Largest Wind Turbine Installation Vessels Meet at Port of Esbjerg, Denmark

Four of the largest wind turbine installation vessels in the world are currently positioned in the Port of Esbjerg, where Blue Water Shipping is acting as agent and handling stevedore assignments.

“Sea Installer” is the latest new-build vessel from A2SEA which recently arrived from China to Esbjerg, to be prepared for its first assignment in the North Sea. The vessel is to load two of the new 6MW test turbines from Siemens which are to be installed in the English offshore wind park Gunfleet Sands.

“MPI Discovery” has been working with installations at the largest wind park in the world – London Array – where all 175 turbines where shipped out of Esbjerg. The ship continues from Esbjerg with installations at the English wind park Lincs. The “MPI Resolution”  is also engaged in this project and both vessels are owned by MPI Offshore.

“Pacific Orca”, owned by Swire Blue Ocean, is the largest installation vessel for wind turbines in the world. It arrived in the Port of Esbjerg shortly before Christmas where it is being prepared for assignments in the North Sea.
