China: Intertek Certifies Goldwind's Flagship PMDD Wind Turbines

Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology Co., Ltd. (Goldwind), announced today that several of its permanent magnet direct-drive (PMDD) wind turbines have received ETL certification by Intertek. The ETL Listed Mark demonstrates compliance to the requirements of widely accepted product safety standards, as determined through independent testing and periodic follow-up inspections by Intertek.

Goldwind received ETL certification for multiple models of its PMDD wind turbines that include the 1.5 MW extended series products for low wind speed areas and the 2.5MW series for several different operating environments. Goldwind’s prior ETL certifications for its 1.5MW PMDD series were awarded in August 2011.

With these certifications, Goldwind’s flagship wind turbine series are recognized as meeting all safety regulations in the United States and Canada on design, technology, and quality.

In addition, Goldwind’s proprietary full power converter and its permanent magnet synchronous generator also received ETL certification, meeting the North American safety standards.

According to Goldwind’s President and head of its international unit, Wang Haibo, meeting local quality standards is an important step toward internationalization. Mr. Wang said: “Throughout the past 15 years, Goldwind has invested in significant research and development resources in establishing our turbines as among the most technologically advanced, high-performance, efficient, and cost-effective machines in the world. It is that R&D strength that has helped our transition into the international markets, ensuring full compliance with market and quality standards in each of the locations we serve.”

“Our priority is the development of technological products that exceed the demands of our customers and maximize efficiency and value over the life of our products. In our case, technology includes research & development, product & process improvements, added core competencies, and sustained innovation, which have enabled Goldwind to increase its products and its geographic markets.”

In prior evaluations, different models of Goldwind’s PMDD wind turbines have passed the EMC testing conducted by TÜV Rheinland and design certification by TÜV NORD; passed the Sinclair Knight Merz safety assessment and test standards for Australia; and passed the ride-through performance test at zero volts administered by the GL Group. Achieving these internationally recognized quality standards, required in overseas markets, reflects the safety, reliability, and high quality of Goldwind’s PMDD wind turbines. Goldwind is continuing to seek additional international certifications for more types of Goldwind’s wind turbines to create additional market recognition and sales of its products and services in the international markets.

As of yearend 2012, Goldwind’s business footprint covers 18 countries, including China.

As of June 30, 2012, Goldwind is the world’s largest permanent magnet direct-drive turbine manufacturer, with an accumulated 11 gigawatts of installed capacity for its PMDD wind turbines and more than 7,000 installed wind turbines.
