So far, it has often been necessary to use external diesel generators to secure the power supply in connection with the completion of installation and commissioning of offshore wind turbines because the connection to the power grid has not been ready.

In the Anholt project, all wind turbine positions have been energised at an early stage, and therefore, it has been possible to install and energise all wind turbines without using external generators.

As the external generators are both heavy to handle and need regular inspection and fuel supply, it has been possible to save resources for both transport and expenses for fuel by using the existing grid connection.

However, as a precaution, 20 used generators had been purchased in case of technical problems, but the generators have not been used.
