On Saturday October 18th Verbrugge Terminals in the Port of Vlissingen and its partner Sarens successfully completed the load-out of five tripods for the German offshore wind farm Global Tech I.
The consortium Iemants N.V. and Eiffage Construction Métallique S.A.S were responsible for the load-out, including stability engineering of the tripods and engineering of the transport support structures.
The final assembly of these five tripods, as part of the Global Tech I contract with the consortium Iemants N.V. and Eiffage Construction Métallique S.A.S., was constructed in Vlissingen, whilst Verbrugge – Sarens provided the logistical support.
Verbrugge – Sarens offered Iemants the proper infrastructural conditions and handling experience required for this project. With its ample capacity of over 180 hectares and over 3.000m of heavy duty quay side, Verbrugge expects to continue to perform an important role as assembly location and marshalling harbour for the offshore (wind) industry in the years to come.
Global Tech I is presently expected to be fully operational in the summer of 2014 and with a total of 80 5-MW turbines will provide sufficient environmentally-friendly electricity to power an equivalent of 445.000 households with an average power demand of 3.130 kilowatt hours per year.
