The video below shows the deployment of a sea spider 200 feet down into Admiralty Inlet to collect data on the conditions and critters of the proposed tidal turbine site.

A team from the University of Washington carried out the deployment.

A few days ago, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued a 10-year pilot license to Public Utility District No. 1 of Snohomish County for the proposed Admiralty Inlet Pilot Tidal Project in the Puget Sound. The license authorizes the studying, monitoring, and evaluating the environmental, economic, and cultural effects of hydrokinetic energy.
