The construction of towers and nacelles in the North Sea wind farm Global Tech I is running in full gear: During the weekend the 40th AREVA Wind turbine has been installed.

The two high performance vessels Brave Tern and Bold Tern of Fred. Olsen Windcarrier have been deployed since January and March of this year respectively. Since then, they installed a total of 35 turbines. The record performance so far was eight turbines during one week including ten hours transfer times to the wind farm. The transhipment of the components takes place at the offshore terminal ABC Peninsular docks of the logistics provider BLG in Bremerhaven. The processes are all running so smoothly that the loading of four towers and nacelles is done within a little more than one day.

Until now, 40 towers and nacelles and nine rotor stars have been successfully installed. According to the programme, the wind farm will be fully erected and operational this summer. When Global Tech I is connected via the BorWin beta converter station to the grid, the eighty 5 megawatt turbines of AREVA Wind will then start to supply environmentally-friendly power for the equivalent needs of 445,000 households.
