In their report on the project, which will also be considered by the committee, the officers stated that the wind farm developers have “underplayed” the impact of the project on landscapes, especially places that are designated as Areas Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, writes the Isle of Wight County Press. Also, they stated their concern on possible onshore noise pollution and effect on bird population.

However, the officers have pointed out the benefits of the Navitus Bay offshore wind farm, which will reflect in job creation, generation of renewable energy and a positive impact on local economy.

Considering all pros and cons, the planning committee has been recommended not to object to the proposal but to request more information on issues that the officers specified as concerning.
