Van Oord to Store Gemini Cables Using RentOcean’s 3000t Onshore Turntable

Business & Finance

RentOcean, a 100 percent owned subsidiary of Oceanteam Shipping ASA, has been awarded a contract to supply Van Oord Offshore Wind Projects BV a 3000t demountable onshore turntable system and accompanying equipment for a long-term storage project.

The turntable and additional equipment will be used for storage of cables at Eemshaven, The Netherlands for the Gemini Offshore Wind Farm. This will be one of the largest wind farms in the world in terms of size and production. It will
be built in the Dutch part of the North Sea, 85 km north of the coast of Groningen.

RentOcean’s turntable series are designed for flexibility and quick mobilisation. The modular systems are delivered to the mobilisation site in 40 ft containers. All system components are “plug and play” and interchangeable. As a result of this new philosophy the equipment is sea and road transportable and can be mobilised to any port around the world in a highly cost effective manner.

“We are very pleased that, with this contract award, we can support our client on this major wind project and are looking forward to assisting Van Oord on future operations,” says Managing Director of RentOcean, Lex van Doorn.
