Preparation for Met Mast Installation Underway at Moray Firth

R&D

Drace Infraestructuras UK Ltd is undertaking seabed preparation work for the installation of a meteorological mast for the Moray Offshore Renewables Limited (MORL) offshore wind farms.

This work is being undertaken in support of the development of The Crown Estate Round 3 Zone 1 offshore wind licensing on the outer Moray Firth off the East coast of Scotland.

The concrete gravity base is now installed and the lattice mast is partially installed. All navigation and aviation aids attached to the mast are now operational and the marker buoy has been removed. The remaining works are expected to be completed by 10th November 2014.

The base will be positioned on the already completed subsea embankment.

The next phase of the works will involve offshore installation of the remaining sections of the lattice structure and commissioning. This work commenced on the 12th September and is expected to take five weeks.

The final phase will involve the installation of scour protection, including concrete mattresses. This work began on the 20th September and is expected to be completed by the 10th of November.
