Specialist Marine Consultants Ltd (SMC) has won two awards at the Chamber Bridlington and Yorkshire Coast Business Awards.
The awards took place on Friday and are organised by Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce in association with Welcome to Yorkshire. The annual awards showcase the best of East and North Yorkshire’s businesses, and is now in its 8th year.
SMC, which provides specialist services to the offshore renewables and oil & gas sector, won Small Business of the Year award, which recognises strong leadership, innovation and ambition. The company’s second accolade is the Overall Winner award. The Overall Winner is selected from the individual category winners, making it a particular honour considering the wealth of quality in the running.
MD Ian Coates , said: “This award is testament to all the hard work by the team in the office, and the teams working on projects both onshore and offshore.”
The awards ceremony was preceded by a gala dinner and entertainment in the Royal Hall at the Spa in Bridlington. It was attended by over 500 people and raised £8,353 for the nominated charity, Cash for Kids.
Chair of the judging panel, Neil Watson said: “The judges found SMC to be a global business with a real focus on employing local people and developing them in a highly technical environment. They demonstrated a focus on excellence alongside a culture of teamwork and mutual support.”
Specialist Marine Consultants Ltd is the provider of marine coordination for Siemens’ offshore wind projects.
