Research and Markets has announced the addition of the “Scotland: A Major Destination for Offshore Wind” report to their offering.

The Offshore Wind Industry Group has estimated Scotland’s offshore wind energy potential to be around 25% of the entire European offshore wind potential. This means that Scotland has the highest offshore wind energy potential of any country in Europe. With support from the Scottish government, wind turbine Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) have shown great interest in this potential and are currently exploring offshore wind opportunities.

Due to the anticipated high growth in the region, many OEMs, component suppliers, construction service providers and offshore vessel providers have entered the Scottish market.

This includes OEMs such as Mitsubishi Power Systems, Areva, Samsung Heavy Industries and Gamesa, along with construction and project management service providers including Technip Offshore Wind. The region is now among the most preferred destinations for offshore wind investment and enjoys a strong supply chain for offshore wind turbine components.
