Palfinger Wins Gemini Cranes Deal

Palfinger Marine is to supply 150 cranes for the Dutch 600MW offshore wind farm, Gemini.

The wind farm will be equipped with PF6000 an electric fixed boom cranes already features at Anholt and GodeWind I & II wind farms.

“With PALFINGER manufacturing knowhow and its reliable, well-proven product, we have now a perfect support for our innovative service concept” said Jens Moeller, Senior Project Manager of the Siemens Wind Power and Renewables Division.

Martin Zauner, Head of Business Unit Wind Cranes at Palfinger Marine added: “This important partnership with Siemens confirms our developments of the last years and our leadership position for lifting solutions in the wind industry. Continuous product development, large scale production and reliability of our services connect our two companies.”

Gemini is owned by a consortium consisting of Northland Power (60%), Siemens Financial Services (SFS – 20%), Van Oord Dredging and Marine Contractors BV (Van Oord – 10%) and N.V. HVC (HVC – 10%). The 600 megawatt wind power plant will consist of 150 Siemens wind turbines located located in the North Sea, 85 km offshore the coast of Groningen.
