MHI Vestas Offshore Wind has received the largest order in the companies’ history for the 400 MW Rampion offshore wind power plant in the UK. The order comprises 116 V112-3.45 MW wind turbines and a full scope service contract.

Installation of the 116 wind turbines will commence in the first quarter of 2017, with commissioning planned to be completed in 2018. The project is expected to be one of the first of the UK Round 3 projects to be built.

MHI Vestas Offshore Wind CEO Jens Tommerup said: “We have worked closely together with E.ON to deliver the Humber Gateway (219 MW) and Kårehamn (48 MW) projects over the last two years and we are pleased that this proven technology of the V112-3.45 MW, for which we have improved power output, has been chosen to provide greater value for the Rampion site.”

As it comprises Vestas V112-3.45 MW turbines, the turbines will be supplied by Vestas Wind Systems A/S to MHI Vestas Offshore Wind and the order will enter into the backlog of Vestas Wind Systems A/S.
