Seatricity to Test Its Wave Device in Ireland

R&D

Seatricity Ltd, a Cornwall-based wave energy company, will spend the week of 13th-18th July tank-testing its Oceanus 2 device in the Beaufort Wave basin at the Hydraulics and Marine Research Centre of the University College Cork, Ireland.

Aims of the trial will include analysis of further optimisation options affecting predicted device outputs for use as a comparator with data gained from the full scale Oceanus 2 device and specific trials to examine maximum tether loadings in storm conditions.

Meanwhile, Seatricity is waiting for the next opportunity to deploy the Oceanus 2 to its berth at Cornwall’s WaveHub site.

A 3D-printed model of the Oceanus 2 device to be used during the test was created by Steve Cox and 3D Kernow.
