Offshore Wind Consultants Enters Germany

Offshore Wind Consultants Limited, part of Oslo-listed Aqualis ASA, expands its physical footprint and opens a new office in Hamburg, Germany.

The new Hamburg office will be used as the operating base for the company’s growing client and project work based in the region, and will also provide a base for other Aqualis Group services in this sector.

In 2014, renewable energy constituted 25.8 percent of the total electricity production in Germany, thereby becoming the country’s biggest energy source for the first time, according to the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (Bundesverband der Energie- und Wasserwirtschaft – BDEW).

Ian Bonnon, managing director of Offshore Wind Consultants, said: “The opening of our new office in Hamburg recognises the strategic importance of Germany in the offshore wind sector. We and we are delighted to have grown our business in a positive way which has allowed us to expand into Germany ahead of our planned global expansion plans. Offshore Wind Consultants is a globally focused consultancy providing independent services to the offshore renewables industry. The company was acquired by Aqualis ASA in June 2014.

Offshore Wind Consultants’ newly established German company will trade under the name of OWC (AQUALIS) GmbH.
