First of the total 82 A-frames for Wikinger offshore wind farm foundations is ready for the next step in the fabrication process, Bladt Industries reported via social media.

The company will deliver 41 four-legged jacket foundations for Iberdrola’s wind farm in the German part of the Baltic Sea. The jacket foundations will be installed in water depths of up to 42 meters, each with a weight of approximately 600 tons and a footprint of 23×23 meters.

Iberdrola said it will start the in-water construction phase of its Wikinger offshore wind farm in spring 2016.

With a total investment of almost €1.4 billion, Wikinger will comprise 70 turbines with a total capacity of 350MW. Once in operation, the wind farm will be able to produce clean electricity for more than 350,000 German households.
