MHI Vestas Receives 165MW Order from Nobelwind

Business & Finance

Following the financial close for the Nobelwind offshore wind farm, MHI Vestas received the order for the supply of 50 V112-3.3 MW turbines for the 165 MW Nobelwind project off the Belgian coast, including a a 15-year full-scope service agreement.

This is the third project between the two companies, MHI Vestas pointed out in a press release.

The order has been placed by Nobelwind NV, who signed up with Parkwind, a Belgian developer who owns and operates the 165 MW Belwind and 216 MW Northwind projects, together with reference shareholders Sumitomo Corporation and Meewind.

CEO Jens Tommerup said: “We are proud that Parkwind has once again decided to partner with MHI Vestas to supply turbines for the Nobelwind project.

“When the project is completed, MHI Vestas and Parkwind will have together installed over 500 MW in Belgium, with all projects serviced by MHI Vestas technicians working out of our site office in Oostende.”

The Nobelwind offshore wind farm is located 47km from the coast of Belgium in the North Sea. When completed in 2017, the project will produce 651 GWh of clean energy annually, enough to provide energy for over 186.000 Belgian households.
