Video: Offshore Wind Farm Undergoes Subsea Exfoliation

Operations & Maintenance

Yeovil-based Atlantas Marine has recently completed a week long project at an offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea, undertaking an array of underwater inspection and de-fouling tasks.

Pertinent to this project was the ability to clean marine growth from the seal glands and sacrificial anodes without causing any damage to the structure, for which the company used an Ocean Modules V8 ROV with a CaviBlaster attached.

The CaviBlaster is based on the principles of cavitation, when collapsing bubbles generated by a proprietary system create a vacuum that quickly and safely removes fouling materials.

Essentially this means that all types of marine growth from seaweed to well attached barnacles can be easily removed, without damaging the surfaces to which they are attached.
