In 2014, the Port of Ardersier secured the full backing of the Scottish Government for plans to turn the former oil fabrication yard on the Moray Firth into a manufacturing ‘super-hub’ for offshore wind.

Following the growth in the renewable energy sector the site was identified as being of national strategic importance. The Scottish Enterprise National Renewable Infrastructure Plan identified Ardersier as a port location for offshore wind manufacturing, installation staging, operations and maintenance for the Moray Firth, JLL said in its brochure.

The site is offered for sale by JLL and VALAD, on behalf of Tony Friar and Blair Nimmo, joint administrators of Port of Ardersier Ltd.
