The contract was signed following Vattenfall’s announcement of the final investment decision to construct the 400 MW Horns Rev 3 project off the west  coast of Denmark.

Jens Tommerup, CEO of MHI Vestas, said: “The Horns Rev 3 project will set a new milestone for affordable offshore wind power, and we look forward to working with Vattenfall on delivering that goal. We have a strong partnership together with Vattenfall, underlined by the 300 MW Thanet project, and the 160 MW Horns Rev 1 project among others, and we are proud to partner with Vattenfall again to deliver our record breaking V164-8.0 MW turbines to the Horns Rev 3 project.”

NOTE: The original article was edited on 8 June, 2 PM CET. The article initially stated that MHI Vestas will supply 50 8MW wind turbines to Vattenfall for the project. However, the exact number of wind turbines is yet to be decided on as the contract is still conditional, according to MHI Vestas. The details of the project will be further elaborated once the contract becomes uncoditional.
