This is Petrofac’s second project on the EA1 project, with its Project Development group having already completed the basic engineering for IEC earlier this year.

Usman Darr, Director of Engineering Services, Petrofac Engineering & Production Services, said: “This award reflects our growing position in the offshore wind market, where we continue to build on our track record of delivering a strong, technically competent service for our clients.

“This contract builds on our core competence of project development, with our ability to offer a full range of multi-discipline engineering support, including concept, FEED and detailed design services across the oil and gas and renewables industry, onshore and offshore.”

The EA1 wind farm development is located in the southern North Sea within the south eastern area of the East Anglia Zone, approximately 45 km south east of Lowestoft.

The project has a capacity of 714MW, enough to power the equivalent of 500,000 homes or the majority of the households in Suffolk and Norfolk.

Construction is planned to commence in 2017, with the first turbines installed by 2019, and the project is expected to be fully operational during 2020.
