A2SEA

A2SEA’s vessel Sea Installer has installed the first of 32 MHI Vestas 8MW wind turbines at the Burbo Bank Extension offshore wind farm. The turbines are the largest in the world and this is the first time they have ever been used in an offshore wind farm. (Article)

Bladt Industries

The offshore high voltage substation (OHVS) for Belgian Nobelwind offshore wind project, also known as Belwind 2 or Bligh Bank II, has been installed at its destined location in the North Sea. The substation was built by Bladt Industries, in cooperation with Semco Maritime. (Article)

C-Ventus Offshore Windfarm Services

C-Ventus Offshore Windfarm Services has become an operational member of the Industrial Rope Access Trade Organization (IRATA), whose main activities, among others, are to promote and maintain a high standard of safety and work quality in industrial rope access activities and to provide guidance on training and certification of personnel involved in industrial rope access. Deutsche Windtechnik

Deutsche Windtechnik has acquired a 70 per cent stake in the Dutch-German group OutSmart, which focuses on offshore operations management and management services. OutSmart’s range of services in the area of offshore wind farm management includes technical and commercial management, 24/7 remote monitoring, HSEQ management, data analysis, reporting, and much more. Iemants (Smulders)

The 402 MW Veja Mate offshore wind farm project has reached a milestone with the installation of the offshore substation in the German part of the North Sea. The offshore substation was delivered by FICG consortium of Cofely Fabricom, CG Holdings, and Iemants, part of the Smulders Group. (Article)

London Offshore Consultants

London Offshore Consultants (LOC), which has been appointed by reinsurers Swiss Re and Korean Re as the marine warranty surveying service provider for the Tamra offshore wind project, located off the coast of Jeju Island in the Republic of Korea, marking its first ever wind farm project work in the Asia Pacific region. Oceanteam Solutions

Oceanteam Solutions has been awarded a long-term contract to supply an Offshore Transmission Owner (OFTO) with port facilities, loadouts and storage of cables at Oceanteam’s own cable storage facility in Velsen Noord, The Netherlands. (Article)

Palfinger Marine

Palfinger Marine has secured the first order for its newly introduced Palfinger Blade Access (PBA) system with Senvion, which will use it at the Thornton Bank I, II and III offshore wind farms in Belgium. (Article)

Sif/ BOW Terminal

Sif, a Dutch-based manufacturer of large steel tubulars for offshore wind turbine foundations, has completed the first monopiles in the new assembly facility at Maasvlakte II in Rotterdam. In July 2016, the company entered an agreement with BOW Terminal Vlissingen for work on the coordination and implementation of both horizontal and vertical transport for all Sif projects at the new terminal. Zensor

Zensor, a Belgium-based provider of monitoring packages for offshore wind support structures, won the Rising Blue Star of the Year award at the first edition of the Blue Economy Business Awards. The ceremony was held as part of the first Blue Economy Business & Science Forum at the International Maritime Museum of Hamburg. (Article)
