EIB Mulls Over Kriegers Flak

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is reviewing a request to provide financing for the 600MW Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm project in the Baltic Sea.

The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) is seeking an undisclosed amount from EIB for the wind farm which is expected to be commissioned in 2022.

EIB says that the project will further contribute to the bank’s priority objectives for energy-sector lending related to renewable energy sources and climate action.

DEA prequalified a total of seven companies and consortia to bid for Kriegers Flak, with one of the prequalified consortia subsequently withdrawing from the tendering procedure.

The decision on the winner of the tender is expected to be published in December 2016.

Kriegers Flak is situated 15 km east of the Danish coast in the southern part of the Baltic Sea close to the boundaries of the offshore exclusive economic zones of Sweden, Germany and Denmark.
