Mizuno will replace Jin Kato, who will stay on as a senior advisor to the company for the next six months before reassuming a senior role at MHI in Japan.

Mizuno comes from a position of a general manager in Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, and has been with MHI since 1986.

In his role as deputy general manager for MHI’s business strategy planning department, Mizuno was involved in the establishment of the joint venture between MHI and Vestas which led to the creation of MHI Vestas Offshore Wind in April 2014.

“Being a core member of the initial Joint Venture team, I have followed the development of the company closely over the past two years. I am happy to be appointed Co-CEO at MHI Vestas,”  Mizuno said.

“Since our inception on April 1, 2014 we have secured a strong pipeline of projects, we have introduced a new level of competition to the market and we have seen the offshore industry start to become more established. Throughout my career I have worked with growing industries and I look forward to helping MHI Vestas to continue to drive the offshore industry to become a fully mature industry.”

While being new to the offshore wind industry, Mizuno is expected to use his extensive management experience from mature industries at MHI Vestas.
