As part of the three-month contract with a major offshore wind turbine manufacturer, the specialist wind turbine inspection and repair company carried out 27 complex repairs in under 90 days within a 70% weather window. The repairs were completed on time and within budget with no lost time incidents and 100% HSEQ reports, James Fisher said.

The company was able to provide the customer with a full turnkey solution which combined full inspection, repair and post-project analysis.

“Our turnkey solution saw us coordinating the vessel, five platforms (four of which were in use at any one time while the fifth was being moved to the next turbine), day and night teams as well as full follow-up and analysis,” ROTOS 360 operations director, John Galliford, said.

“This is the first time a complete repair job has been subcontracted in its entirety to one company.”

The company added that ”huge efficiencies were gained by using an innovative and efficient ultra violet blade curing technique called RENUVO UV in combination with the Rotos 360 suspended access platforms.”

As the first round of turbines are now coming out of their warranty period, it is anticipated that this contract will be extended to further wind farms and perhaps strategic partnerships created on large turnkey offshore blade repair projects, James Fisher said said.
