The design services regarding offshore substations will be carried out by COWI, ISC Consulting Engineers and Rambøll. The framework agreement includes services intended to be utilised in the construction of future offshore wind farms and design services in connection with similar structures intended for offshore deployment.

For the design of onshore substations, DONG Energy has chosen COWI, Atkins, Kelvin Power Structures, WSP UK and Rambøll to provide engineering consultancy.

Atkins, COWI, ISC Consulting Engineers and Rambøll will be in charge of engineering design of the primary steel in the monopiles, transition pieces and jackets for offshore wind turbines, as well as secondary structures such as landings, ladders, resting platforms, internal platforms, etc.

All contracts have a duration of six years.

The tender process for engineering consultancy services related to operations and maintenance (O&M) buildings is ongoing and is expected to be finalised later this year.

According to the invitation to tender issued in February 2017, the offshore substation contracts from this tender are valued at a total of EUR 20 million, same as the total value of those for onshore substation engineering consultancy services.

The contracts for foundation structural design have been valued at a total of EUR 3 million.

The engineering consultancy works for the ongoing tender for O&M buildings are worth around EUR 2 million.
