The vessel will support MHI Vestas’ walk-to-work operations at the Triton Knoll offshore wind farm in the UK as of March.

The contract has been signed for a firm period of 140 days with extension options and represents the first contract for Solstad Offshore with MHI Vestas.

Last year, Solstad signed contracts for the deployment of two of its vessels on offshore wind projects in Taiwan and one in Germany.

The first of the total of 90 MHI Vestas 9.5 MW wind turbines was installed at the Triton Knoll offshore wind farm site in January.

Located some 32 kilometres offshore Lincolnshire, UK, the 857 MW wind farm is scheduled for full commissioning in 2022.

Triton Knoll is owned by RWE (59%) and partners J-Power (25%) and Kansai Electric Power (16%), with RWE leading the construction on behalf of the partnership.
