Following the complete local assembly of hub components in 2023, Vestas has, for the first time, accomplished the merging and testing of nacelles and hubs in Taiwan, the company said in a recent social media post.

In 2020, Vestas signed an agreement with Taiwan’s Yeong Guan Energy Technology Group (YGG) to source additional components for the production of V174 turbines which are set to be installed in Taiwan. The agreement covers rotor hubs, hub plates, and nacelle base frames.

Two years later, Vestas, together with its partner Ten Li Offshore Wind Technology, produced the first V174-9.5 MW blade at its facilities in Taiwan. The blade was installed at the Changfang and Xidao offshore wind project.

In November last year, Vestas completed the assembly of the rotor hub for the V174 wind turbine.

Upon completion of testing and shipping, the merged nacelle and hub from the assembly facility will make its debut in the most localised offshore wind farms in Taiwan, Vestas said.

Apart from Changfang and Xidao, the localised V174- 9.5MW turbines will be deployed on the 300 MW Taipower Offshore Wind Project Phase II (TPC Changhua Phase II), and the V174- 9.6MW model will be used on the 298 MW Zhong Neng offshore wind farm.
