CBED Signs SOV Deal with Siemens Gamesa

Business & Finance

Offshore wind service provider CBED has signed a contract with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy for their new service operations vessel, Wind Creation, which will join the commissioning of an offshore wind farm in the Netherlands.

The project will commence by the end of the second quarter of 2024 and run for the remainder of the year, securing full activity for Wind Creation until the first quarter of 2025.

The company took delivery of the vessel in April this year and will have the SOV in drydock during May for refurbishing, name change, and painting according to the CBED fleet design.

Part of this work will also include the installation of a new permanent UPTIME 30m AMC w/1T winch gangway with an operational level from 14 metres to as high as 32 metres.

The adjustable pedestal combined with the very large span on operational level on this Uptime gangway is for example what makes Wind Creation a perfect fit for this project where we need to connect to the transition pieces at very low levels,” said Daniel Alon, General Manager of CBED.

During the project, CBED will use IJmuiden Port in the Netherlands as a base port for crew change and loading of fresh supplies.

With this project, the company now has all three vessels (Wind Creation, Wind Innovation, and Wind Evolution) in the fleet in full operation for the rest of the year, according to CBED.
