Havfram Hired for ‘Major’ European Offshore Wind Project

Business & Finance

Norway-based Havfram has signed a contract with an undisclosed client for the construction of an offshore wind project in Europe.

Havfram said that the “major” project will be executed in 2029, utilising one of the company’s GustoMSC NG-20000X installation vessels, planned to be delivered in the second half of 2025.

The installation work is anticipated to span approximately one year. According to the company, the project details and client identity remain confidential at this stage.

This marks a milestone for Havfram, the firm said, which has now secured contracts for transport and installation support of turbines for eight large-scale offshore wind projects across Europe between 2026 and 2030.

In 2021, Havfram signed a letter of intent with China’s CIMC-Raffles to build a series of next-generation wind turbine installation vessels.

The NG-20000X self-propelled jack-up will be able to install offshore wind turbines with a rotor diameter of more than 300 metres, as well as XXL monopiles weighing up to 3,000 tonnes at water depths of up to 70 metres.
