Griffon Hoverwork Designs New Craft For Swedish Coastguard

Technology

Griffon Hoverwork has designed a brand new craft, the 2450TD, with significant design input from the Swedish Coastguard. The 2450TD is based on the popular 2400TD design but, as the Coastguard wanted to transport their snowmobiles, the dimensions and payload of the craft were increased.

These vessels are being marketed for work with offshore wind farms.

About Griffon Hoverwork Ltd:

Griffon Hoverwork Ltd has been the world leader in the design, manufacture and operation of marine hovercraft since they were first conceived with Sir Christopher Cockerell over forty years ago and continue to be at the forefront of new technology research and product development.

With a background in supply of craft for hydrographical and seismic surveys, crew transportation and logistics, civil engineering support, search and rescue and mobile medical clinics we believe Griffon Hoverwork is ideally situated to build on this expertise and offer new and innovative targeted solutions to the off shore wind farm, wave and tidal power sector.

Initially they are assessing the potential usage of Griffon’s hovercraft range for example: support as a rescue craft/safety boat/ mobile clinic, dive support, crew vessel for off beach transfer or work in shallow or sand banked areas, fast transport of equipment etc. and whether purchase or charter opportunities exist.

They will also look to determine whether there are further opportunities to deliver bespoke hovercraft solutions (for instance hovercraft barges or specially designed deck areas) as a support vessel for particular aspects of survey, foundation, cable laying, substation and turbine installation or technical and equipment transfer.
