Sunday Times Fast Track 100 Ranks Senergy as One of UK’s Fastest-growing Companies

Aberdeen-headquartered energy services company Senergy has debuted in a national league table of Britain’s fastest-growing privately owned companies, underlining its global-leading industry position.

Senergy was ranked in the Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 league table after sales grew by 55% a year from £23.9million in 2007 to £89.7million in 2010. During the same period, the company also acquired five businesses and grew its geographical footprint by opening nine new offices across the world including in the Middle East, Australia, North America and the UK.

In addition, Senergy created significant new employment opportunities between 2007 and 2010 with staff numbers growing from 180 to 450 during this period.

James McCallum, chief executive officer at Senergy, said: “This is tremendous recognition of Senergy’s entrepreneurial spirit which, despite the backdrop of a challenging global economic environment, saw the company substantially increase operating profit margins through organic growth and a series of acquisitions.

“By identifying high value niche services, Senergy has fast evolved to become a specialist diversified energy services company. We have developed a strong track record for delivering knowledge solutions and technical excellence across the hydrocarbon and alternative energy sectors. We work with our clients across the full project lifecycle of any upstream energy development from the initial evaluation of an opportunity, identifying its associated risks, challenges and outputs through to full delivery and operation.

“Senergy is now entering another exciting new phase of our journey as we continue to build on our ambitious vision for growth and increase our geographical reach.”

Among the companies that Senergy acquired between 2007 and 2009 were: PGL, a geoscience consultancy; Floyd and Associates, a geohazard, marine site survey and rig positioning project management consultancy; ISIS which specialised in marine geotechnology and engineering; advanced drilling techniques specialist LEA; and electrical engineer and grid connection specialists Econnect.

Senergy was one of only two Scottish companies to feature in the Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 which is sponsored by Virgin, Barclays, BDO and Microsoft. It is compiled by Fast Track, the Oxford-based networking events and research company that champions the UK’s top-performing private companies.

Sir Richard Branson, of Virgin, which has been the title sponsor of the league table since its inception 15 years ago, said: “2011 has been another challenging year for the UK in political and economic terms. Against this economic background, the strong performance of the Fast Track 100 companies is to be especially applauded.”

Established in 2005, Senergy is a diversified energy services company which employs more than 500 people worldwide across its Aberdeen headquarters and through a network of global offices in the UK, Norway, the Middle East, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and the Americas.

The company’s services encompass geosciences, reservoir engineering, geohazard assessment, marine site surveys, rig positioning, wells engineering and operations and project management, and alternative energy solutions.
