Bremerhaven’s Fischereihafen holds the foundation structures for the Borkum West II and Global Tech I wind farms . Weighing up to 900 tons, the tripods are being transported by rail directly from the loading facility at the manufacturer’s plant to the OFFSHORE BHV I, 70 meters long and 32 meters wide pontoon .
This will be followed by shipment to the ABC peninsula set up specially for this purpose at the BLG Auto Terminal and temporary storage, until the tripods are loaded onto the installation vessels designed to install them at sea.
The pontoon transfer to the Auto Terminal is required because the installation vessels are too wide for the locks of the Bremerhaven’s Fischereihafen.
