FoundOcean Expands Its Apprenticeship Scheme

Scottish-based FoundOcean, the world’s largest dedicated offshore construction grouting company, is helping the local government to meet its Modern Apprenticeship targets with the expansion of its successful in-house training scheme.

Jim Bell, FoundOcean Managing Director is positive about the scheme. “We have always been committed to hiring local individuals and providing them with world-class training. The apprentice scheme has given us the opportunity to extend this training to individuals of all ages looking to learn a trade and work within an engineering environment.”

In the recent Scottish Chamber of Commerce Skills Pulse Survey, 72% of business respondents said that work experience, employer engagement and practical skills are all ways that they should be helping young people. FoundOcean is no exception, its apprenticeship scheme trains mechanical fitters, welders, and electricians to carry out onshore activities which are vital to support the company’s offshore operations.

Callum Coleman is one of five apprentices currently based in Livingston and has been a part of the apprenticeship scheme for the past two years. “FoundOcean is a very friendly place to work and I have been given some fantastic opportunities to learn a trade. I’m looking forward to my future with the company and what it has to offer me.”
