Business & Finance

SgurrEnergy, renewable energy consultancy, has supported Veja Mate offshore wind farm to financial close.

The 400MW project, located in the German Exclusive Economic Zone of the North Sea, approximately 95km north of the island of Borkum, is being developed by Highland Group Holdings Ltd. and consists of 67 Siemens SWT-6.0-154 wind turbines with associated monopile foundations, inter array cabling and an offshore substation.

The project has the backing of eight international lenders, including Eksport Kredit Fonden and KfW, providing €1.275 billion debt to the project.

This project is the third German offshore wind farm to reach financial close in 2015 and the seventh German offshore wind farm project in total that has reached financial close with SgurrEnergy’s support.

SgurrEnergy’s Raya Peterson, Project Manager, said: “This project included a number of unique technical challenges that required detailed analysis in order to make sure that the lenders requirements were appropriately reflected.

We are delighted to have helped another offshore wind farm project achieve this significant milestone, especially one that is pushing the technical boundaries. We look forward to supporting the project through the construction phase, on the road to operation.”
