The factory, which is being built on a 17-hectare site in Szczecin Port, is planned to be constructed within 18 months.

The main building, with a total area of more than 47,000 square metres, will house four production lines for wind turbine towers along with a warehouse for the necessary raw materials.

An additional, smaller building is planned for the assembly of the internal components. A total of more than three hectares of land will be developed for storage areas, along with access roads and parking for 100 vehicles, according to PORR.

“The need for alternative energies in Europe is huge and continues to grow. And so it’s imperative that the appropriate infrastructure is expanded. We are proud to contribute to that with the construction of this plant,” said Karl-Heinz Strauss, CEO of PORR.

In February 2022, Windar Renovables announced its decision to invest EUR 80 million in constructing a new offshore wind turbine tower factory, aimed at supporting the growing offshore wind sector in the Baltic Sea.

The Spanish company received the final approval for its manufacturing facility at the beginning of last year.
