50Hertz Sees Offshore Wind Growth in Baltic Sea, Germany

As the issues on grid connection of German offshore wind farms hold back the development in the North Sea, German power network operator 50Hertz expects a shift of investor interest to offshore wind in the Baltic Sea.

Reuters quotes the company’s CEO as saying that the expected offshore wind power capacity in the German Baltic Sea could reach between 2,000 and 3,000 MW over the next 10 years. Typically, the North Sea is favourable for investment due to stronger winds compared to those in the Baltic.
